I am asking for your help ...
Our Cherokee Nation has filed a lawsuit against the United States to get a portion of our land back that was taken from us illegally under the Trail of Tears treaty of 1835, according to the Fifth Amendment. The US did not honor this Treaty and compensate Cherokees for our land.
I am asking you to sign our petition and to help pass this information on to your friends and family. Any questions can be directed to me at 205-914-2070 or at Tonnia01@gmail.com. Your help will be appreciated.
On behalf of individuals of Cherokee descent, a class-action lawsuit was filed against the United States of America for return of the land seized by the federal government under the Trail of Tears Treaty of 1835, and for the fair market value of any land that cannot be returned. Stuart Anglin, a citizen of CTNEAL, is listed as the primary Plaintiff. Copies of this lawsuit were sent to the Washington Post, NCAI and the White House. By early this month, queries were already coming in from social media, FoxNews, etc.
A website has been established to keep everyone informed of actions being taken (see http://attorneyetal.com/petition/). Please read through the intro and quote from John Ross. For specifics about the lawsuit itself, the link “Class Action Lawsuit” provides a view of the lawsuit in its entirety.
NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP!
After you review the website, we are asking you to do three things:
1. Sign the petition;
2. Share the message with family, friends & neighbors; ask that they sign the petition and help pass the word; and
3. Contact your legislators to learn where they stand on the issue of the 1830 Indian Removal Act.
Remember that this is an election year. Before we cast our vote, we need to know where candidates stand … three points to be considered are listed on the website under ‘Preamble.’
